Fennel tea | how to make fennel tea | a digestive and detox tea for all seasons

recipe of fennel tea

Fennel tea with palm candy or taal misri is a great remedy for most bacterial type digestive tract infections. There is no green tea into this infusion so the 'tea' is more of a 'tisane' in correct technical terms.

This is the kind of herb tea you would love to sip without a nose shrink. It is aromatic and feels cool even when you are sipping it and inhaling it. I bet you would feel like inhaling the tea more as you take your sip....

The brown crystalline thing in the picture is a desi palm sugar. Taal mishri as it is called in the bengali markets, this palm sugar candy is a great sweetener for fennel tea. This kind of fennel tea sweetened with taal mishri is considered to cure E. coli infections of the urinary tract as well as digestive tract.

Diuretic it is for sure and you need to take about 4 cups of this tea to see results....a great preventive tea if you are prone to UTIs. I have always seen this tea helping with chronic infections of UTI but one needs to have this tea everyday 4 times a day. Or make it a habit to drink it instead of water most of the times.

I got reminded of these pictures from last year when a friend asked about cooling drinks for summers.

The fennel seeds used for this tea is the ones used for making pickles, not the ones offered after a meal in Indian restaurants ...1 tbsp fennel seeds for a large cup of tea ...pour boiling water over the fennel seeds in a kettle and cover till the tea gets cold ...add palm sugar or table sugar as required , honey will be good too. The tea can be enjoyed at room temperature or chilled...

This tea is a good cure for flatulence too...and other minor digestive troubles .

Fennel and palm sugar is known to eradicate E. coli from your system if taken daily like a dose for 6 months. Powdered together in equal quantities, 2 tsp daily first thing in the morning.

In the tea form it is more cooling for the system. Cumin tea can be made as a cooling drink too, following the same procedure.

Take care not to boil the seeds as the aromatic oils will evaporate, you need to brew the tea like you do for any other green tea.

If you don't get this palm sugar you can add any other preferred sweetener or have it unsweetened.

Would you like to make a jug full of this tea every morning for yourself and serve it to a guest in summer days? Many of my friends already have adopted this tea.

I used to make this tea everyday for years for my daughter and myself, now I make it when required for cooling or for minor digestive troubles.

Make this tea whenever you want some fennel whiff or when you need it to ease out your digestive system. It is a great detox tea as well.

  10. Try this Nirupama ASAP...i have recommended this to many people and it has worked. Also , consumption of cranberry juice during the infection helps a lot.
Have this powder even when you don't have the infection and continue for 6 months.

  11. We call this crystal palm sugar as panam kalkandu, My mother couriers all these stuff from Thanjavur to HYD. We add this to hot milk and take along with ground pepper and haldi during colds. Also we add this to a concoction made from the herb "chitharathai"Or "thai ginger" to eradicate phlegm due to cough, . Suggest a everyday remedy for a friend affected for along time with amoebiasis, ( no bael pl) it is difficult to get in his place

  13. Nirupama...the powder made with fennel seeds and this palm candy in equal quantities , 1 tsp, taken twice daily works effectively for amoebiasis . The tendency of the bacteria to make cysts after every medication helps the bcteria to survive in the body even after the symptoms have been treated with antibiotics etc.

This powder , it taken for 6 months is known to flush out even the cysts of the bacteria...I hope this remedy helps your friend.

  17. Hi Anonymous...Please go and consult a doctor first. Getting diagnosed for any allergies would be something i would suggest.

Till then you can drink an ajwain tea made just the same way as this one.
